A chapter in Management of SMEs and Startups, 2026, pp 1-5 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Today, it is widely acknowledged that the management of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups presents unique challenges and opportunities distinct from those encountered by larger enterprises. Ongoing trends such as shortened innovation cycles, globalization, increased competitive pressure, and demographic changes pose critical challenges to their management. This edited volume analyzes recent developments and trends in the entrepreneurial landscape and highlights the opportunities that may emerge from them. By providing evidence-based insights and strategic perspectives, it seeks to support SMEs and startup managers in addressing these challenges effectively and in converting obstacles into drivers of entrepreneurial development. For that, this volume adopts a multi-and interdisciplinary approach, encompassing fields such as strategic management, business environment, organizational development, entrepreneurial finance, and sustainable and digital transformation.
