What was the Theory Behind the Formation of EMU?

Mike Tsionas

Chapter Chapter 6 in The Euro and International Financial Stability, 2014, pp 27-28 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The author has been an alternate member of the EPC (Economic Policy Committee) representing Greece (along with the governor of the Bank of Greece and the chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors of the Ministry of Finance) during 1997–2000. Although, in this capacity, one cannot possibly know everything that happened in the “inner circles” of the European bureaucracy, one thing was clear.
