Abstract: Abstract This chapter charts the history of expansionist adventures of European Colonial Powers in India, Indonesia, and China. The chapter focuses on the relationship between the colonial elite and the natives. It analyses the theories of client patron relationships and the role of special events such as the battle of Plassey and the Mutiny.
