Chapter Chapter 15 in Daily Life in Classical Athens, 2024, pp 195-199 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter, the importance of insurance premium is analyzed as a mechanism of further promoting trade by providing a safeguard while performing international commercial transactions. This is an intertemporal institution that, in all likelihood, has its origins in Classical Greece and the Athenian state of the times, like the rest of the financial institutions already described in the previous chapters.
