Expectations of a Good Job
Hermann Troger
Chapter 4 in Human Resource Management in a Post COVID-19 World, 2021, pp 69-90 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Shifts in the balance of power caused by a lack of skilled workers are increasingly leading to an employee-driven labour market. The growing trend for businesses to individualise employment relationships is a reflection of this. What are the general expectations of good work opportunities in today’s working world? In other words: What are the employee expectations that employers need to meet if they want a successful and lasting relationship with their employees? Which characteristics, values and offers count? What makes you an attractive employer? And last but not least—how have the expectations of employees changed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic? These are the questions that are investigated in this chapter.
