Chapter 1 in The License Giver Business Concept of Technological Innovation, 2022, pp 1-2 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Innovation is a polluted term. When an audience like a class of MBA students or a group of managers is asked to describe what the term means, one gets widely diverging answers. Literature on the subject also shows a variety of definitions. Most of them point at novelty and application. For instance, Mansfield (1968, p. 83) writes: ‘An invention, when applied for the first time, is called an innovation’. This definition covers most of the literature on technological innovation and is, therefore, adopted throughout this book.
