Abstract: Abstract This chapter provides the motivation for using blockchain-based systems for health records as the currently prevalent electronic health records are inadequate for providing complete care and a smooth experience. The organization of such systems is discussed for developers intending to proceed on this path. Real examples from multiple such systems indicate that the challenges faced by developers in creating and deploying successful systems are not trivial. The issues are described here in depth and the corresponding solutions are discussed.
