Chapter 20 in The Future (R)Evolution of the Office Workspace, 2025, pp 317-338 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract To futureproof your workplace and effectively design a hybrid model, it’s essential to adopt a proactive approach that anticipates the evolving nature of work. Through extensive consultations with workplace stakeholders, we have identified ten key principles for the successful design and implementation of a hybrid workplace model. These principles emphasise the need for management to take leadership, ensure top-level buy-in, and develop a cross-functional approach to managing the hybrid environment. The hybrid workplace is dynamic, not static, and requires continuous exploration, measurement, and adjustment to optimise value creation. Key recommendations include fostering a unique culture aligned with organisational values, practising change managementChange management from the outset, and integrating advanced technological solutions. Additionally, HR, IT, and FM functions must focus on their roles in managing a distributed workforce, enhancing digital infrastructure, and creating adaptable, sustainable workplaces. By following these guidelines, organisations can build a resilient and future-ready hybrid workplace that meets the needs of both the organisation and its employees.
