A chapter in Resilient Business Models, 2025, pp 263-269 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This case study, “SRI – Sorting Recycling Industries: Business Model, Historical Evolution, and Organisational Resilience,” examines SRI’s pivotal role in Italy’s circular economy, focusing on its transformation of post-consumer packaging waste into secondary raw materials. Established in 2006, SRI has continuously evolved its capabilities, enhancing recycling infrastructure and increasing processing capacity through technological advancements. The company’s operational excellence and commitment to sustainability are highlighted by its daily processing of approximately 550 tonnes of diverse materials and significant CO2 emission reductions. SRI’s business model emphasises its circular economic principles, key partnerships within the D&D Holding Group, and its value propositions, which include providing high-quality secondary raw materials and promoting environmental impact reduction. SRI’s strategic development, continuous investment in technological innovation, and engagement with various stakeholders—from municipalities to educational institutions—demonstrate its adaptive capacity. This case study exemplifies how integrating technological innovation, strategic partnerships, and a strong commitment to sustainability not only preserves the environment but also creates economic and social value, thereby showcasing a resilient business model in the face of global challenges.
