A chapter in Resilient Business Models, 2025, pp 363-381 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This case study, “Cross Hub: An Innovative Model for SME Managerial Support,” examines the resilient business model of Cross Hub, a distinctive management consulting firm in Italy. Cross Hub is presented as a pivotal player in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), startups, and spin-offs by mobilising a community of highly senior executive managers across various specialisations. The firm’s innovative approach lies in synergistically integrating these expert managerial skills with the organisational structures of its client companies, directly addressing specific needs for competitive development and corporate reorganisation. The case highlights Cross Hub’s unique value proposition, which includes temporary management, advisory, and consulting services, alongside startup incubation and acceleration activities. Its resilience is underpinned by strategic strengths such as diverse accreditations, extensive alliances and partnerships with corporate, academic, and research organisations, and a robust community of seasoned professionals. By providing tailored, flexible managerial support and fostering operational synergies, Cross Hub exemplifies how a consulting firm can build a sustainable and adaptive business model that empowers SMEs to navigate complex market dynamics and achieve long-term growth and resilience.
