A chapter in Resilient Business Models, 2025, pp 221-225 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This case study presents the case of Authentico, an Italian technology company pioneering blockchain-based traceability in the agri-food sector, as a compelling example of a resilient and sustainable business model. In a context where consumers increasingly demand transparency, safety, and sustainability in food production, Authentico offers a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform that leverages public, energy-efficient blockchain infrastructure to ensure supply chain authenticity and data immutability. Built in compliance with ISO 22005:2007 and integrated with IoT and AI technologies, the platform allows producers to track and communicate every stage of food transformation—from raw materials to finished products—via multilingual digital product passports. Strategic partnerships with organisations such as RINA and Politecnico di Milano’s Food Tech Observatory reinforce the credibility and innovation potential of the solution. By enabling small and large food producers to demonstrate production excellence and secure premium market positioning, Authentico illustrates how trust and traceability can be transformed into a competitive advantage. This case highlights how Authentico’s scalable, low-impact digital model not only combats food fraud and reduces environmental waste but also supports a more transparent, inclusive, and sustainable global food system.
