Chapter 2 in Future Management for Sustainable Prosperity, 2026, pp 57-126 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Presents the first pillar of Future Management: sustainable prosperity, an alternative purpose of economic activity which is inherently universal and sustainable. Reviews the philosophical foundations of sustainable prosperity and explains why achieving it is the responsibility of managers irrespective of their managing MNCs, SMEs, or a private practice. Introduces the concept of métron as a way of viewing the world and finding one’s place in it on a moral, cultural, practical, and aesthetic level. Offers practical steps for restoring métron and bringing balance and harmony in Future Managers’ lives, businesses, and markets through temperance and connectedness. Explains how finding and sustaining métron is rewarded by achieving the pragmatic, cognitive, and moral legitimacy required for organisational success. Integrates economics and management with ancient and modern philosophy as well as western and eastern traditions and applies world wisdom to solve everyday management problems.
