Chapter 2 in Leading Innovation, 2026, pp 31-73 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The following section introduces key definitions relating to innovation and creativity. Building on these foundations, it develops a concept of innovation leadership grounded in organisational studies and human resources research. Particular attention is given to the context in which innovation leadership takes place, conceptualising the innovative organisation as a social system. The theoretical perspective thus adopted draws on social constructivist approaches (Burr, 2015; Gergen, 2002), contemporary systems theory (Baecker, 1999; Luhmann, 2000) and paradox theory (Schad et al., 2017; Smith & Lewis, 2011).
