Chapter 5 in Understanding Artificial Intelligence, 2024, pp 319-342 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract One of the most significant changes brought about by the use of AI in the health sector is the transition from disease treatment (reactive care) to a care that focuses even more on the diagnosis of diseases at an early stage or before their occurrence (proactive care). The increasing performance of AI systems, for example, promotes the pattern recognition in digital data and images. This can not only increase the accuracy of diagnosis, but also find the most promising therapy. Various AI applications are also used for the analysis and enhancement of safety.
