Problem Areas in Analog Companies
Florian Schnitzhofer
Chapter 5 in The Self-Driving Company, 2023, pp 67-83 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter presents the currently prevailing “business theory”, which has evolved over decades, but has remained unchanged, since to date only partial digitization has taken place in almost all companies, based on the old, “analog” structures. The structure of the ensuing discussions is based on the most important corporate process groups, which are representative of a widespread approach to the structuring of processes in companies. To date, therefore, digitization has been carried out on the basis of traditional analog end-to-end processes instead of, conversely, thinking about digitization from the considerably more far-reaching opportunities afforded by artificial intelligence. Based on the current end-to-end process groups, the areas of conflict and optimization potential are described in this chapter.
