A chapter in Innovative Quick Response Programs in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, 2010, pp 265-278 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Quick response systems need all supply chain players to respond quickly to market changes and cut ordering lead time and cost on inventory control, increase the accuracy of inventory information, help avoid stock-outs, and boost the number of inventory turns. Radio frequency identification (RFID) is an emerging technology that is increasingly being used in quick response systems and supply chain management. RFID technology plays an important role in supporting logistics and supply chain processes because of its ability to identify, trace, and track information throughout the supply chain. In this chapter, we provide an overview of the current state of RFID applications in quick response systems and its impact on business operations. We give suggestions for future research areas at the end.
