Abstract: Abstract This paper studies four cases in China to illustrate the benefits of radio frequency identification (RFID) in efficient response systems. The first case discusses the warehouse management in the tobacco industry. We propose an RFID-based digital warehouse management system to tackle the low efficiency problem of barcode data collection. The new technology greatly improves the efficient response system in the following dimensions: visualization of inventory management, automatic guided forklift, and reduction of loading time. The second case introduces a communications system based on RFID technology in a primary school. The new system not only improves the management of school, but also enhances the security of the pupils and the supervision of parents. In our current studies, we separately discuss the implementation of our first case in the whole supply chain, and the implementation of RFID for the efficient response in an electronic toll collection system.
