Chapter Chapter 6 in Innovation in Agriculture with IoT and AI, 2022, pp 79-98 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The global agricultural sector in some rural areas is facing new challenges to find markets for effective marketing of their products. These agricultural product’s marketing issues have attracted worldwide attention. In addition, the challenges and opportunities brought about by the trading system liberated from the world market are unimaginable. Therefore, the transition to a sustainable food and agricultural system has become a necessary condition for effective management of global agriculture and food markets, supporting expected population growth, and ensuring global access to adequate agricultural and food markets in addition to safe and nutritious food. This study included an extensive literature-review followed by consultation with agricultural, environmental and academic experts in the identification and subsequent prioritization of the associated challenges with the worldwide food and agricultural systems, which resulted to put more attention to the “challenges associated with food-access and their utilizations” based on the ranking. The findings of this study will enable in taking suitable intervention strategies at different levels of service and policy formulation in addition to the consideration of competent governments. Furthermore, in view of the detection of safe and healthy foods, an “Internet of Things (IoT)” based model is designed that can provide appropriate readings on associated temperature as well as humidity, and pH of the stored crops in closed containers. This may help to detect the crops to be fresh or old for final consumptions.
