Chapter Chapter 11 in Knowledge is Power, 2026, pp 193-207 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Sir Francis Bacon’s program was ahead of its time; now the times are ahead of Bacon’s program. He focused most of his intellectual work on what he called the rules of nature. This was the main subject of his implicit program, and he is justly recognized for the pivotal role he played in promoting the use of knowledge to dominate nature through understanding. Yet, he has also been questioned for the undesirable consequences of the relentless and unrestrained subjugation of nature.
