Chapter 8 in Manufacturing Exports from Indian States, 2016, pp 151-162 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Focusing on the eastern Indian state of Odisha, the chapter shows that passive and misguided policies on entrepreneurship, industries and infrastructure are likely to adversely affect a state’s industrial growth and the capacity of the local firms to enter into export markets. The state’s export basket is largely led by basic metal and metal products which corresponds to the availability of mineral resources in the state. However, a mere one per cent share of high technology products in its manufacturing exports is a manifestation of the unimpressive industrial strategy of the state.
