Abstract:
Abstract The case of the southern state of Karnataka illustrate that a subnational unit achieve rapid export growth if it pursues proactive and targeted policies for facilitating firms’ integration with global markets. The state has been a pioneer in formulating regional export strategy and promoting firms’ exporting through capacity building in terms of the provision of infrastructure, institutional support and fiscal incentives. Its export basket reflects active participation of SMEs and representation of products across high-technology, medium-technology and low-technology categories.
