Chapter Chapter 1 in India’s Producer Companies and Small Farmers, 2024, pp 1-27 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) especially Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) are being promoted in India as an innovative policy measure for improving smallholder livelihoods in the liberalised and globalised agricultural market environment. However, there have not been many large scale and recent assessments of the performance and impact of these entities. This chapter reviews the previous evidence, though limited, on performance and impacts of PCs and other FPOs in section two, states major objectives of the studty in section three and methodology in section four besides a brief about the organisation of the book in section five.
