Single Server Queueing Models

Wallace J. Hopp

Chapter 4 in Building Intuition, 2008, pp 51-79 from Springer

Abstract: Queues or waiting lines form in systems when service times and arrival rates are variable. Simple queueing models provide insight into how variability subtly causes congestion. Understanding this is vital to the design and management of a wide range of production and service systems.
