Chapter Chapter 1 in Health Care Benchmarking and Performance Evaluation, 2014, pp 3-14 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The health care industry faces new challenges every day, and comprises one-seventh of the gross national product (GNP) in the United States. New regulations, new technologies, and new organizations are being created continuously as a result of public policy. Managers of health care need to respond to these challenges with sound performance evaluation and decision making. This book will offer state-of-the-art performance evaluation methods as well as relevant and current examples to aid practicing managers, researchers new to this discipline, and students studying in this field.
