Abstract: Abstract Health maintenance organizations (HMOs) are a form of health insurance combining a range of coverage in a group basis. Physician groups and other medical professionals offer care through the HMO for a flat monthly rate with no deductibles. HMOs influenced financing and delivery of health care in the United States during the past several decades. By 1999, there were 643 HMO plans covering over 80 million people throughout the US (US Census 2000 on www.Allcountries.org).
