Chapter Chapter 8 in Modelling in Mathematical Programming, 2021, pp 259-284 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In this Chap. 6 problems are modelled completely. Some of them correspond to classic optimization problems, while others have a more singular character. The problems will be the following: 8.1. Production with fixed costs: A system where usual logical calculations appear. 8.2. Graph coloring problem: A classic of optimization. 8.3. Configuration of work centers: An assignment problem in a production plant. 8.4. Production and delivery of solar panels: An example to illustrate specifications of flow balance. 8.5. Selection of a tree in a graph: Example of optimization problem associated with a non-directed graph. 8.6. Programming pilots for an airline’s flights: This would be a particular case of a fixed job scheduling problem, of special interest to those interested in systems for assigning work shifts and crew scheduling.
