Abstract: Abstract This chapter provides the background on nano image analysis and its data science relevance. Four types of nano image analysis are presented, illustrating and exemplifying the type of research problems discussed in this book. The chapter presents an overview of how the book contents are organized, followed by a discussion of potential readership and instructorship of the book. The last section provides the links for the online book materials, i.e., the image sets and computer codes used in the book.
