Chapter Chapter 6 in Asset Maintenance Management in Industry, 2021, pp 137-158 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter describes various stages of the asset maintenance strategic plan to develop and implement an asset maintenance strategy to achieve maintenance excellence. Baseline survey methodology is an essential tool that assesses the existing asset maintenance strategy and practices implementation performance through the Baseline Survey Questionnaire (BSQ). It selects a best-fit plan for a specific asset/equipment using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique and provides practical solutions to asset maintenance managers in operations-intensive organizations. The comprehensive AM strategic plan helps the practicing maintenance managers to assess the organization’s present situation and improve upon asset maintenance strategy processes based on the guidelines obtained from the frameworks discussed in Chaps. 4 and 5 . Further, implementing operational excellence as a Six Sigma project using the DMAIC approach is discussed in detail in this chapter.
