Chapter Chapter 4 in Rankings and Decisions in Engineering, 2022, pp 49-83 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter focuses on evaluating the degree of concordanceRanking concordance of the expert rankings. First, it provides a description of two consolidated rank-correlation coefficients—i.e., the Spearman’s ρ and the Kendall’s τ—which are used to assess (1) the degree of association of two rankings and (2) the significance of the relationship between them. Next, it describes the Kendall’s concordance coefficient (W), which can also be applied to more than two rankings. Unfortunately, W is applicable to complete rankings only, while experts may sometimes formulate incomplete rankings. The second part of this chapter presents a revised version of W, which can be extended to incomplete rankings. Several pedagogical examples support the description.
