Chapter 16 in Multi-Criteria Decision Making with Partial Preference Information, 2026, pp 317-379 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract There are several applications reported in the literature, using partial preference information methods, such as the FITradeoff method. This chapter uses some of these applications to build cases that can illustrate the potentiality and advantages of applying methods that use partial preference information. These cases can also be easily hands-on replicated by readers to wishing to acquire this experience. These cases deal with decision problems related to supplier selection, location problems, portfolio selection in energy, security, production planning, and other management contexts. As a result of undergoing this experience, the reader will be able to understand why methods that use partial preference information tend to gain in popularity as their advantages become increasingly known. There are several methods available in the literature, which are presented in this book and one of their features is to require only the necessary and sufficient preference information from decision makers, which is much less than traditional methods, which are based on complete preference information.
