Chapter Chapter 24 in Multi-Criteria Decision Making with Partial Preference Information, 2026, pp 495-504 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter presents different applications of the FITradeoff for negotiation web-based platform in order to illustrate its usability in supporting multi-issue bilateral negotiations. The proposed platform integrates a preference elicitation module based on the FITradeoff multicriteria method, which assists negotiators to evaluate candidate packages, either when formulating offers or deciding whether to accept those from a counterpart. This platform is freely available for use upon request. To demonstrate the platform’s versatility, three negotiation simulations are presented across different contexts: (1) a negotiation between an offshore wind energy company and a fishing community; (2) a construction project negotiation between a contractor and a retail chain; and (3) a wholesaler who is negotiating the purchase of computer products with suppliers. These cases vary in complexity and thus enable an assessment to be made of the effectiveness of the FITradeoff method in fostering structured, transparent, and efficient negotiations across diverse scenarios.
