Chapter 7 in Multi-Criteria Decision Making with Partial Preference Information, 2026, pp 109-130 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Decision processes with non-compensatory preference are discussed. This kind of method considers the DM’s non-compensatory rationality. One of the characteristics of these preferences is that DMs do not make tradeoffs in their value judgments. This chapter is dedicated to discussing the use of partial preference information in methods that deal with non-compensatory preference structures. The concepts and definitions associated with non-compensatory decisions are presented. The basic concepts and procedures for two outranking methods using complete preference information are presented: ELECTRE and PROMETHEE. Then, the respective versions of these methods using partial preference information are discussed. Note that these methods use partial preference information but enable a complete solution to be found.
