Chapter Chapter 9 in Introduction to Cutting and Packing Optimization, 2018, pp 245-278 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter, we investigate cutting and packing problems arising when heterogeneous material or forbidden regions are present. In the first part, we consider one-dimensional allocation (cutting) problems where the set of feasible patterns depends on the (raw) material. Thereby, we address a generalized cutting problem in which the length of the pieces of a desired type is only limited by a minimum and a maximum length, i.e., their length can vary within a given interval. In the second part, we turn to two-dimensional cutting problems with defective or forbidden regions.
