Chapter Chapter 1 in Capacitated Planned Maintenance, 2017, pp 1-6 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Maintenance comprises activities, which are carried out during the life cycle of a system in order to retain it in or restore it to a state in which it functions as originally intended. It reduces downtimes and failures and increases business goals such as profit, productivity, efficiency, quality, and the service level. Since maintenance and production compete for the resource availability, maintenance has to be planned carefully. The presented work introduces the Capacitated Planned Maintenance Problem (CPMP) and the Weighted Uncapacitated Planned Maintenance Problem (WUPMP). Specific optimization algorithms are proposed such as construction heuristics, Lagrangean and tabu search metaheuristics. A problem independent hybrid approach links and alternates between two Lagrangean relaxations. The solvability is analyzed with respect to the computational complexity, polyhedral properties and lower bounds.
