Chapter Chapter 2 in Mathematical Models for Evacuation Planning in Urban Areas, 2012, pp 17-38 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Evacuation plans are developed for buildings, ships, stadiums or districts, cities or whole sub-national region. In the following literature review, mathematical programming and simulation approaches that consider, mainly, the evacuation planning concerning the evacuation from regions like districts, towns or regions will be presented. Recently, there have been a number of articles concerned with evacuation planning and evacuation support. They could be divided into flow-based optimization approaches which seek to compute an optimal solution of certain objectives and simulation approaches that evaluate an existing evacuation plan.
