Abstract: Abstract Construction is currently is rapidly adopting digital technologies and at the same time remains a large and multicultural industry aimed at creating a safe and comfortable environment for human life, which is consistent with the ideas and goals of sustainable development, each of which is reflected in the complex of personal and professional traits of builders. These traits are especially evident in teamwork. The characteristics of an effective construction team were studied in a SMART educational environment. Responsibility was chosen as a marker of understanding, acceptance of the concept of sustainable development, which allows one to be aware of oneself as the cause of actions and their consequences. The test was used to determine effective team roles based on the Belbin model, observation of team work during the semester, and other methods. The effectiveness of the research and educational process was ensured by the use of information technologies: a cloud platform for online video conferences and video webinars Zoom, an online project management system Trello, a Kahoot training platform, an online service Mentimeter. A sample of 148 senior graduate students of a civil engineering university, who are also employees of real construction organizations, was studied. The most and least common team role was identified, in connection with which the guidelines for the responsibility of the participants were identified, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of construction teams in the context of the concept of sustainable development. Additional attention is paid to the possibility of maintaining the emotional background of team interaction online.
