Abstract:
Abstract This work is devoted to the study of the dual system of engineering education and its development. The need to transform higher education, including engineering one, is caused by the new needs of the real sector of the economy under the influence of the transition to Industry 4.0. The concept of Education 4.0 is considered, which describes the current stage of transformation of education in accordance with the needs of Industry 4.0. Within the framework of the Education 4.0 concept, the importance of the relationship between the introduction of new information and communication technologies with new pedagogical techniques and methods is emphasized. The relationship and differences between the concepts of Education 4.0 and e-learning 4.0 are shown. The concept of Education 4.0, through the characteristics of its components, makes it possible to analyze the state and prospects for the development of dual engineering education. Theoretical conclusions about the compliance of dual engineering education with modern requirements for the development of society and technology are supported by an example that evaluates the experience of the specialized departments of a regional Russian university that graduate engineers. A questionnaire survey of teachers and students studying at the specialized departments made it possible to form an empirical basis for the study. The results of the study showed that the respondents, in general, consider the level of hard and soft skills formed as a result of training, the level of training methods, and the level of ICT and infrastructure used for the implementation of the educational process sufficient and necessary. Dual engineering education is a progressive form of education and corresponds to the development trends of higher education within the framework of the Education 4.0 concept. This study allows determining the prospects for the development of dual engineering education, which are seen in increasing the involvement of students in research work focused on the needs of production.
