Abstract:
Abstract The paper describes the steps taken in modelling a 3D digital terrain model from a point cloud; creating the road situation, longitudinal and transverse sections; creating a 3D parametric model of the whole road and visualising the infrastructure in a realistic context. The BIM tools used were “Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D”, which is most commonly used for geometric design of the road. The aim of the project and the focus of the paper is to pursue the idea that data is an asset and that it can be made efficient and accessible throughout the construction life cycle.
