Abstract:
Abstract In case of disturbance, train dispatching takes place in a geographically limited area, the dispatching area. From a practical point of view, this is due to the workload of the dispatcher. In order to obtain a more holistic view of the train dispatching problem, this work presents an approach which extends a microscopic approach of dispatching by a macroscopic view of railway operations that take place outside the dispatching area. For this purpose, a cost function is developed, which is applied within a MIP as a subproblem of a column generation. For a selected dispatching area, numerical calculations show that the presented method satisfies the requirements for real-time train dispatching.
