Abstract: Abstract Scientific research on efficiency measurement, particularly studies applying Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) has expanded across diverse fields, including finance, administration, engineering, and multidisciplinary research groups, with additional applications in tourism, demography, and psychology. However, little is known about how DEA research has evolved specifically within Latin America. This study aims to characterize the main research trends in DEA across Latin American countries from 2000 to 2024, identifying the factors that have shaped its adoption and dissemination in the region. A systematic review was conducted following the four-phase approach proposed by Codina (2018): search, evaluation, analysis, and synthesis. Publications were retrieved from international databases (Scopus and Web of Science) and from regional platforms (Redalyc, Dialnet, and Scielo), enabling a comprehensive assessment of both globally indexed and locally disseminated research. The review identifies the primary thematic areas of DEA application, the geographical distribution of contributions, and the dominant publication channels. The findings reveal clear regional patterns. Colombia leads DEA production in regional databases, while Brazil dominates internationally indexed output. Finance emerges as the most prominent field of application across the region. Overall, this study provides a consolidated overview of DEA scholarship in Latin America, highlighting its evolution, disciplinary tendencies, and the regional dynamics that shape its development.
