Abstract: Abstract Distributed wireless ad hoc network is a wireless communication network composed of some communication devices with transceiver functions. It has the advantages of flexible networking, strong scalability, and low operation and maintenance costs. In the distributed wireless ad hoc network, the routing mechanism plays a vital role in the resource allocation and data exchange between neighbors. Compared with the traditional three-layer routing, the two-layer routing has the advantages of low delay and high stability, so this article adopts the two-layer routing. There are two routing methods, unicast and broadcast, in Layer 2 routing. Unicast routing needs to establish the whole network topology, and then establish routing according to the whole network topology. Broadcast routing adopts the hop-by-hop broadcast method. The two applicable network environments are different. Therefore, this article studies the effects of node density, network hops, service hops, and topology residence time on unicast and broadcast routing in Layer 2 routing, and establishes unicast routing maintenance consumption, unicast and broadcast data transmission consumption models. Finally, determine the optimal routing method in different network environments by maximizing the amount of data that can be transmitted during the residency time.
