Chapter 6 in Socio-Economic Considerations in Biotechnology Regulation, 2014, pp 81-95 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract GM crops impact the environment both directly and indirectly. This chapter provides an overview about the methodologies for assessing these impacts from a Pigouvian, Coasian, and libertarian viewpoint, and discusses reported environmental impacts. Overall, substantial positive environmental impacts have been reported in the literature. A comprehensive environmental impact assessment has to differentiate between reversible and irreversible benefits and costs, as well as their distribution among different stakeholders.
