Abstract: Abstract We present a mixed-integer linear program (MILP) for demand response for an electric rail crane system in a container terminal. The overall goal is to determine the cost-reduction potential of demand response programs for rail cranes by comparing energy costs of an optimal demand management and energy costs without demand management for small problems. We use the MILP to determine the most cost-efficient demand schedule with the constraints guarantee an in-time execution of container jobs in the planing horizon.
