A chapter in Disaster Management and Information Technology, 2023, pp 131-143 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract There is a constant increase in the number, intensity, and magnitude of disasters caused by natural phenomena or human activities around the world in recent years. Such disasters adversely affect social relations, economic growth, and sustainable development of the countries. Although many information systems for disaster management try to reduce the possible aftereffects of disasters and assess the damages, they are not always capable of handling the consequences in the right way regardless of the advanced information technologies used. The recent trend toward the integration of advanced IT services becomes more popular with its possible applications in different aspects of life. The aim of this chapter is to investigate the challenges of integrating advanced information technologies with 5G and how this could improve the disaster risk management.
