A chapter in Regional Economic Development in Russia, 2020, pp 275-283 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This work analyzes the development and functioning of power supply systems in the northern regions of Russia. The authors identify different peculiarities leading to a low level of reliability of energy supply for consumers in the northern territories of the country. This work reveals that the increase in the energy efficiency of the closed territories is considered using non-traditional renewable energy sources. The use of renewable energy sources in underdeveloped territories has become a priority direction of the development of economically developed countries of the world. The authors developed a project management mechanism based on renewable energy sources. The proposed mechanism for introduction of energy-efficient projects based on renewable energy sources includes a sequence of seven stages, which allows covering the entire list of works in the northern region and organizing effective management of the implementation of projects.
