Chapter Chapter 9 in COVID-19, Supply Chain, Climate Change, and Sustainable Development in Africa, 2023, pp 115-134 from Springer Abstract: Abstract Across the globe, businesses owned and operated by women have been said to constitute close to 25–33 percent, of all businesses owned worldwide (Mwatsika, 2015). It does not stop here; these businesses owned by women are also said to be growing at a rate faster than any other businesses, as well as the overall economy in any one country. Entrepreneurship, by women, regardless of the corresponding attribute – industry, socio-economic status, race, ethnicity, or type or size of business – has played and continues to play an essential role in the development of many countries. These essential roles are also said to have led to the continued development and future transformation of countries they have touched, including those countries on the African continent. A good place to ultra-focus on women entrepreneurs is to study this monumental and far-reaching area from a variety of these African countries.
