A chapter in State of the Art in Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), 2023, pp 315-338 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter aims to assess the interplay between transformational leadership (TL) and push factors in influencing interorganizational labor mobility (ILM). Survey strategy was used to gather data from a sample of 333 government agency employees. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to examine the hypothesized relationships. The authors found that coworkers’ relationships negatively influence ILM, whereas work–family conflict positively influences ILM. The results indicated a significant moderating effect of TL on the relationship between work–family conflict and ILM, supporting that TL is a significant pull-to-stay factor. Furthermore, authors found insignificant effect on the interaction effect between TL and coworkers’ relationship on ILM. This chapter provides managers with insights into ILM of employees and offered valuable propositions for their retention. The literature on turnover is persistent, but the literature on ILM is moderately investigated in developing countries. Therefore, this chapter extends previous research on voluntary turnover and workers mobility by concentrating on the interaction effect of TL and push factors in influencing ILM. This chapter’s limitations opens up avenue for further studies. For instance, combining push and pull factors with TL, it may consider other moderators such as perceived organizational support, which may generate additional insights.
