Abstract:
Abstract This study proposes a comprehensive framework for analysing patent data to discover technology opportunities across various domains. Through the case study, we illustrate how domain contexts and implementation method contexts can be encoded and analysed to calculate similarities from various perspectives. The proposed methodology begins with distinguishing technology domains using machine learning techniques, proceeding to identify areas of technological opportunity with high benchmarking potential from the perspective of individual technologies. This study emphasizes the importance of considering both domain-specific knowledge and implementation methods in discovering cross-domain technology applications.
