Abstract: Abstract Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems have become indispensable for organizations seeking to streamline operations and gain a competitive edge. This study examines the development of ERPs, following their path from simple programs to AI-driven systems. The exploration highlights distinct phases of ERP development, starting with early systems focused on internal functionalities and progressing to contemporary solutions encompassing cloud-based technologies and artificial intelligence. The paper emphasizes the transformative impact of AI in next-generation ERPs, showcasing how machine learning, natural language processing, and robotic process automation enhance decision-making, automate tasks, and improve user experiences. As we look to the future, the study highlights how ERP systems are shaped by ongoing developments in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and new technologies like blockchain. It concludes by emphasizing the importance for organizations to embrace these evolving trends and leverage the transformative potential of next-generation ERPs to thrive in the dynamic business landscape.
