Abstract:
Abstract This study explores the overall job satisfaction and work engagement among municipal employees across 12 small island municipalities in Greece, using the Job Satisfaction Questionnaire and the Work Engagement Questionnaire. It assesses the impact of personal characteristics such as gender, age, marital status, and education on these outcomes. Results indicate that employees display moderate levels of job satisfaction and work engagement, with job satisfaction being strongly influenced by contingent rewards and work engagement by satisfaction with the nature of the work. The findings highlight the complexity of employee satisfaction and engagement and its significant implications for enhancing public administration’s efficiency and effectiveness.
